COMMENT:
Alexander Baker, the common ancestor of a numerous progeny, was born in London, England, about 1607. He sailed from London in the ship, Elizabeth &: Ann, in 1635, at the age of 28, with his wife, Elizabeth Farrar, aged 23, and two children, Elizabeth aged 2 years and Christian aged 1 year. They landed at or near Boston. It appears that for a short time he lived in Gloucester, Mass., and afterwards settled in Boston, where he became a permanent resident. His occupation was a rope maker. Alexander Baker was a Baptist and did not get along well with the Puritan authorities.
OATH:
Before their departure from London, he obtained a certificate from a minister of the established church and before two justices of the peace took the oath of allegiance.
