Yarmouth Herald [ September 21, 1897 ]
In 1834, James Porter removed from Ohio to Deerfield, bought several large tracts of land in the vicinity of Hooper's Lake, and built a saw mill upon the Salmon river, which has since continued in possession of the family. New machinery has been introduced from time to time, and the mill is now owned by Joseph H. Porter and Jacob Haley. |
