The Founding of Marblehead By: Thomas E. Gray Gateway Press, Baltimore (1984). Page 103. JOHN NORTHY, Sr. was born about 1607 and died in 1689. His will was dated November 8, 1688 and mentions two children, John Northy and Sarah Martin, a grandchild John Pickett, a son-in-law John Martin, and his daughter's other sons, Peter, Samuel, Robert and Thomas. His son John Northy, Jr., was the executor and his inventory was taken December 23, 1689. Northy was a fisherman and planter, and was at Marblehead as early as 1645, when he purchased 12½ acres in the Plain Farm for 5 pounds. He owed the estate of George Pollard in 1646, stinted for one cow in 1647, and signed the 1668/9 Customs petition. Later he became a Quaker. |

| In a case between Erasamus Jones and John Northey, Sr. for fencing in 1672 George Vickery of Hull acknowledged he had recieved full satisfaction for a parcel of land sold by him on May 22, 1660, to said Northey and lying between the lands of William Nicke and the land formally John Russell's: witness Francis Johnson.
