Castle Kennedy is a village in the Rhins of Galloway, SW Dumfries andGalloway, Castle Kennedy lies 4 miles (6 km) east of Stranraer to thesouth of the Black and White Lochs. From 1861 Castle Kennedy developed inassociation with the Portpatrick Railway. The village takes its name froma castle built in 1607 by the 5th Earl of Cassilis. Fine landscapedpolicies, which incorporated the two lochs, were later laid out by theEarl of Stair and the castle was eventually destroyed during the 1715Jacobite Rising.
In the 1881 Census Catherine is listed as Head of Household and livingwith her daughter Georgina Gibson living at Old Lodge Castle Kennedy.
